My work is meditative, contemplative, aiming to be like focused calm in the eye of our stormy world. Using images from nature — trees, animals, landscapes — my personal work explores themes of transience as transformation, chaos as order, growth as change and the notion that change is indeed the only constant in life.
I am drawn to the simple beauty of monochromatic images, favouring charcoal, pastels, ink and oil to create works that are not only built on the foundations of light and shadow creating form, but also capture a sense of spiritual and emotional depth.
